Please dont offer me sponsorship or items for review, i’m not interested. This is just one of my hobbies and I have a full time job and it isn’t youtube.
I'm another older model Mercedes enthusiast with a you tube channel. I'm sharing with you my experiences as I play with my own benzes and some others I encounter. As always you should read factory service manuals to know the correct and safest way to do any jobs.
Postal address available on request.
The email address given isn't for asking for technical support questions, I can't help everyone. Benzworld is a good forum with lots of knowledgeable people if you need help with a serious mb problem.

What the use of SLS on w125 Mercedes
Did this on my Hilux Surf a few years ago (WD40 branded air duster uses the same gas BTW). It would freeze the evaporator over when the blower fan speed was set too low with a high humidity, so I'd say it was effective. That's car now has R134A in it as I did an engine swap and had to have new hoses made anyway. Those can taps are as sketchy as they look, had mine crack after a few goes, if people plan to do this, just be careful when puncturing the can. I've since switched to HyChill for my other cars as the taps for those are much less sketch, you can pretty confident the gas is clean and it has similar benefits to R152A in that you need much less of it (by weight) than R134A.
When I see how good that Undercarriag and engine bay looks I wouldnt mind being run over :D
@@salehfiras943 i cleaned the entire underside by hand after the paintshop with a scrubbing brush and an alkaline solution to remove all grease and red dirt stains. I ended up with several chemical burns on my arms and legs, but worth it 😂
@@MMWA-DAVE In the process of doing the same.I have to say it is a dirty job and most people will tell you no one can see it but the thing is i know all that gunk is there😂I wish you all the best.I can say I am a huge fan and love all your videos related to the m104.980 on blue black and red. Finally someone doing a great job on explaining how to work on these cars.Keep up the good work!Much gratitude and appreciation from Romania!
Thank you very much for providing this video. I used silicone grease all around the border and I use a thin metallic prying rod to loosen up the tabs.
I have a new one in the glovebox waiting to be changed. Hard to do on the M102 also, with that FPR in front.
De-mystifying some of the more in-depth electronics is great for the community. Thank you for making this. This process also holds true for ME2.8 cars.
apparently - me 2.8 virginising is much easier and requires no soldering.
@@MMWA-DAVE Every method I've seen documented involved soldering, but it's an 8pin SOIC instead of that whole chip. If there's a no-solder tool to do so, I'd love to hear about it.
hello.what are the signs that it is not working? my c124 300ce cold engine does not start if you do not press the gas pedal.could this be related?
Good stuff!! Now just need to do wsp’s 😊
If you registered as a mb specialist for certain stuff like this ...people would pay whatever your asking for. MB would ask for more anyway 😂
Here in germany thats a normal task, you go garage - reset @ coder and code it new. No Big deals fr
I bought mine from a German eBay seller, who i was pointed to by the German w124/w201 forums. Wonderful description, contact and a 3 Page installation guide + the Chinese part he actually checks beforehand ...for 30€-40€. I can look up the seller if someone is interested.
Who is this Tim guy ? Is he to be trusted ?
Yeah he’s a bit of a clown, but I’ve known him for 15 years 😅
@@MMWA-DAVE Oh he's been vetted well then 😂
the same kind of fan can be found on also on some a/c systems on 190Es.
Neither of those potentiometer will work, the red & green one is not original & it is out of calibration, the chinese black one is just ****.
they work good enough. You can spend $300 on a genuine bosch item to feel better about it, the reality is there is little to no difference in the driving experience. I have china pots on both my m104’s and they are working OK.
I've found that on the M103 they can get the "fish bite" syndrome (tiny little misfires, not full misfires) when the valves aren't sealing properly. Usually, just a manual valve lapping (after cleaning them on a wire wheel) solves much of that ! I have to assume this is what you mean by "rough idle"
Sounds like that’s probably it. It does seem like constant small and random misfires. I remember having a similar sort of issue with my old 6.9 where the intake valves were wobbling around.
Great video, thank you making these. It gave me confidence to do the same with my R107 300SL. It's now working perfectly. 😊
excellent. Glad to hear it helped.
Hi, thanks for the video. It's not clear that the bearing is at fault from the video. The springs and pistons looks loose though?
i ended up not changing these bearings, all these years later its still going. I think maybe the noise was soap or crud build up from not ever doing hot washes. Now all my washes are 75c and never heard the noise again.
By the way, I have recently replaced the R15 fan resistor but the first speed never kicks on with the AC on and it's been pretty hot these days here in Portugal, so I would expect it to turn on. The resistor is fine as far as I can tell, at least it measures the correct 0.2 Ohm resistance value.
will need to study the wiring diagram and check the relevant relays / switches etc. You can find it by searching for W124 ETM. It is free, no need to pay for it. If someone asks for money, keep searching.
Wow, wonderful timing, just when I was about to do some research on refilling the R12 system on my W124 which is currently performing very poorly...
works better on r12 systems, currently running it in my 190e
I might use this to check an R12 system for leaks. And. then I’d fix the leaks, and refill the system with actual R12. The 134 conversion kits don’t seem to be manufactured correctly these days.
I had a 93 Honda Civic with a R12 AC system that lost its gas. Paid to have it converted to R134a and found it hopeless. I then took a punt, bought the equipment and filled it with air duster. It was incredible. My face would often freeze. I miss that car. Sold it in 2020.
How will the hot glue go in the summer heat mate?
doubt it will be an issue, this hot glue gun has variable temperature control and i couldn’t even get the glue to flow till going to 210c and above.
coincidentally did not realise theres high temp and low temp version hot glue, guess I got lucky. Those were the included sticks with the gun.
@@MMWA-DAVE ahhh must be a good kits then, I quit using them years ago because of the hobby nature of the glues. I'll have to look into them again
Nice one👍
❤
Looks good. Maybe the W210 isn’t so bad after all.
did you connect direct to ecu or round plug?
it works both ways, on the bench wirh bench power supply and on the car via 38 pin socket
Hi, where did you get hold of the repair kit? Seems nowhere to be found. /Jensen
eBay. Search by valve MB part number on yours.
Hey Dave Please email me regarding your wheels I have them ready to collect
Would you say that the original springs with the 1 notch pads would give it a good stance with the 17" monoblocks?
Hi MMWA. I have uploaded a small video with a simple diagnostics device for KE jetronic systems that I've prototyped. Well... it's more of a glorified duty cycle reader, but I've been using it for the past 3 months and I love it. Let me know what you think, if you find the time to watch the video.
yep im interested
Eastern German Trabant was build better lol
Well, this sounded like nothing but gibberish to me, but it's still interesting 😅
Hey u have a contact
Where did you source the replacement? :O
My tank is the same 😭
its all too common these days. The only source for a replacement tank is from a parts car. And you better hope its not even worse 😂
@@MMWA-DAVE I don't think it could get any worse 😂 When I pour fuel down the filler I have to do it a litre at a time otherwise it bubbles back up.. 😳
@@LopuDesigns wow, that tank is junk. Take it straight to the tip and find another 😂
Hello.... thank you for the useful video, butvI got a question, I replaced my car Transmission Conductor Plate NAG1 for 2007 Chrysler 300C 5.7l AWD, it works then not shifting, they told me your Transmission need programming to work correct, someone else told me it doesn't need programming, so I got confused does it need Programming as you a professional??? Cuz am afraid to pay money for programming then if it doesn't work then you waste the money for nothing. Thank you
you need to have the fault codes read from the transmission control unit to find out exactly what it is complaining about.
Great video as always. I've replaced a whole lot of front end stuff, but there's still unruly vibrations coming from small bumps and making the interior shudder like an old Peugeot. The only bush I haven't replaced (which looks perfectly fine visually) is the front two piece bush on the front control arm. The rear bush on the front control arm has also been replaced. Looking at your video, it does seem like control arm goes a LONG way in absorbing vibrations. Would that be correct or should I be looking elsewhere? My 124 is a 300e 4matic btw which has very different looking components up front, but functionally the same.
Can you share .stl data ?
You dont need to remove spring or lower arm or shock just remove bolt and lower down enough to get tool in save hours labour and you dont have to get rear tracking done
i love these birds so much. definitely one of my absolute favorites. thank you so much for sharing this!
If you were on the east coast, II would say check out Heasman steering in Stydney, I think they have a good reputation with alignment on clasic Benz models. Bit of a trek from Perth though. 😂
Very well explained. Can you tell me if it is possible to adjust the position of the distributor (the point of the advance) or if its fix?
distributor is not adjustable on these engines. Ignition timing is controlled by the EZL and its program memory is read only. You would need some after market ignition system to have control over ignition timings. There were however a few selectable ignition maps available in the EZL by way of changing a resistor value for dealing with low quality fuels.
Your W124 takes a bit long to start on cold. Maybe your cold start injector is not spraying well?!
Please post an update, I have the same problem with my m103 and also have the fuel distributor rebuilt recently, but had the same problem before. Cheers.
Ahh the joys of learning 3D printing! You'll get there in time, the good thing is there's plenty of resources and others doing it to help out! Love your 124's, I have a 95 built/96 complied A124 myself!
